Old grocery store in Apalachee community in Georgia. Inside the walls are lined with shelves.

Neat old place. Don't look much like a store anymore. Did you go inside?

You are right - it doesn't look like a store. In fact, my wife spotted it first and thought it was an old jail because of the bars on the windows. But then we saw the shelfs inside and the Royal Crown Cola and Coca-Cola signs on the side. The doors had a padlock on them and a no trespassing sign - so I didn't go inside. But I did look through the windows.

I presume it originally had some type of sign on the front, but it is long gone now. Would have been interesting to know if it was known as a grocery store, general store, or what.
Thanks! And you are right! I came across it by accident. In fact, my wife spotted it first and thought it was an old jail until we checked it closer.

You are right! I love just coming across hidden treasures like this.
What would be really cool is to do a search for it online and see if you can find an old photo of it. I did a quick search but didn't turn up anything.

I did a search too. I did find 1 page on the town: [link]

Can't find any other photos online. On that page you can see downtown Apalachee, the school, and the churches. But no store. That page does give a little bit of the history of the area.
That's cool. Lol. The school still looks the same but "downtown" just looks like a happening place. Lol
